Dene Halatau (born 27 January 1983 in Invercargill, New Zealand) is a New Zealand professional rugby league player for the Wests Tigers in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. His position of choice is second row or lock however he can also play in the centre. Halatau is of Niuean descent[1]
[edit] Playing careerHalatau has been selected for the New Zealand national team since 2004. In August 2008, Halatau was named in the New Zealand training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup,[2] and in October 2008, he was named in the final 24-man Kiwi squad.[3] Halatau is a member of the World Cup winning New Zealand team which defeated Australia in the 2008 World Cup Final at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. On the 14th of August 2009 Halatau accepted a 3 year deal with the Canterbury Bulldogs starting from the NRL season 2010. [edit] Career highlights
