Dawn Tarnofsky-Ostroff (born 1960) is President of Entertainment of The CW Television Network. She is in charge of all creative efforts of the network and oversees such areas as current programming, series development, scheduling, marketing and publicity.
[edit] BiographyShe is a graduate of Florida International University in Miami, Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism. Dawn Ostroff resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband Mark Ostroff and their four children. She has also devoted herself over the years to organizations such as the American Jewish Committee. [1] [edit] CareerShe began her career in news as a reporter for WINZ, a CBS affiliate in Miami. She also worked in local news at WPLG and WTVJ in Miami. Ostroff had joined Lifetime Television in October 1996 as Senior Vice President, Programming and Production. Ostroff served as President of UPN Entertainment from February 11, 2002 until 2006. Prior to this she was Executive Vice President of Lifetime Television starting in 1999. Along with COO John Maatta, Ostroff oversaw the formation and launch of The CW in 2006, which at first was largely comprised of shows from its predecessors: The WB and UPN. Today, The CW network focuses on targeting young women, with Ostroff in charge of the network’s primetime slate, which currently features Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, America’s Next Top Model, 90210, Supernatural and Smallville, as well as new series The Vampire Diaries and the updated version of Melrose Place. Her decision to do something new with the upstart network was critically challenged when CW decided to keep 7th Heaven, a show in its eleventh season in favor of strong fan favorites like Everwood which was replaced by a new show called Runaway which lasted only three episodes [edit] References[edit] External links |
