David Williams (born May 11, 1986) is the bassist for the American rock band IV In Vein. He was formerly the bassist for American new wave band The Dear & Departed.
[edit] Personal lifeDavid John Williams was born in Bridgend, Wales. He first began playing in a band at age 15. He studied music in college and learned to play bass, though his main interest was singing. While in college, he enjoyed traveling Europe, and Europe plays a large part in his identity. David met his fiancee, Lauren, while in London and moved to the United States soon after. He now lives in the O.C./L.A. area of California with Lauren. He has a dog, Snowchubbs, and three cats, Petunia, Beardsley, and Face (though Face lives in Wales). David is bilingual, speaking both Welsh and English. He loves absinthe and is linked to Alandia. [edit] Musical careerDavid met Joel Bourne, the drummer for The Dear & Departed, when Joel began dating one of Lauren’s friends. Joel wanted David to join the band even though they already had a bassist and guitarist. When Lisa Marx left the band, David was asked to step in as bassist. He was living in Wales at the time, so Dan Under (vocalist for TD&D) sent him demos of their songs and asked him if he was interested. David joined the band, and they started recording in December 2006. After a tour with AFI and Sick of it All at the beginning of 2007, the band’s first album, Something Quite Peculiar, was released on May 22, 2007. David toured with The Dear & Departed throughout 2007 and early 2008. David parted ways with The Dear & Departed in May 2008 and is now the bassist for American rock band IV In Vein. He is also working with the industrial goth band Psychotica. In addition to these bands, David has a folk side project called Tafod Y Ddraig, which means "dragon's tongue" in Welsh. The only permanent members of Tafod Y Ddraig are David and his fiancee Lauren. [edit] Other projectsIn early 2008, David began painting original artwork and making it available for purchase on his Myspace page (www.myspace.com/beloved6). When asked where his inspiration comes from, he said "I paint what I see. . . . I just paint how I see the world or as best as I can. I paint the unreal that exists with the real." David has used materials such as watercolors, wine, coffee, absinthe, Chanel parfum, and earth to paint with. David has also collaborated with London shoe company Vandini Shoes and has designed a shoe for them. [edit] Tours
