David Armitage (born 16 June 1988) is an Australian rules footballer for the St. Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

[edit] AFL career

Armitage was drafted by the Saints with pick no. 9 overall in the 2006 AFL Draft. The inside midfielder/forward knows how to win the ball at stoppages, but needs to develop his run and outside game.

Armitage grew up in the rugby league stronghold of Mackay in central Queensland, played for Morningside in an AFLQ grand final as a 17-year-old.

At the NAB National Draft Camp he impressed with finishing first in the "Agility Test" and placed in the top 10 for both the "Beep Test" and "3km Time Trial".

David made his AFL debut in Round 8, 2007 against Hawthorn.

A free kick with less than a minute to play gave St Kilda youngster David Armitage the winning goal against Essendon and put the Saints through to the pre-season grand final against Adelaide.

Armitage played in St Kilda’s 2008 AFL National Australia Bank Cup winning side - St Kilda Football Club’s 3rd AFL Cup Win.^[1] ^[2]

Armitage played in 3 of 22 matches in the 2009 AFL Premiership Season Home & Away Rounds where the St Kilda Football Club qualified in first position for the 2009 AFL Finals Series, winning the club’s 3rd Minor Premiership.^[3]

As of the end of the 2009 AFL Premiership Season, Armitage had played in 2 AFL Finals Series matches - and 1 AFL Cup Final.
