He also has an Epiphone SG as a backup which he has upgraded with his Voodoo SG Pickups. He uses Seymour Duncan pickups, believed to be the JB/Jass set. When asked in an interview if he would consider going for EMGs or SD active pickups he replied 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Dave usually has a heavily processed clean sound using the Boss GT3 for his ambient and unusual effects. Dave has also been using a Laney TT series head and cab for his clean sounds live. Overgrown Eden was mainly a Peavey 5150 recently sold on ebay (2009) and can usually be seen using a Mesa Rectifier live for his distorted sounds. In 2009 Dave signed an endorsement deal with Peavey.
