The airline was established on August 12, 2003 and operations started on July 28, 2004. It has 60 employees (at March 2007).^[1]

Darwin Airline operates the following services (as of January 2009):^[2]

• Domestic scheduled destinations: Geneve, Lugano and Zurich.

• International scheduled destinations:Rome, Foggia, Turin, Palermo, Milan.

• International seasonal destinations: Cagliari and Olbia.

• Darwin Airline currently operates services between Lugano and Zurich on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines.
• Darwin Airline currently operates services between Lugano and Geneve in codesharing with Baboo.
