Daniel Lucius Vasella MD (born 1953 in Fribourg) is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis AG since 1996^[1]. He is married and has three children.

Dr. Vasella obtained his M.D. in 1979 from the University of Bern in Switzerland. In 1989, he completed the Program for Management Development (PMD) at Harvard Business School^[2].

He is the author of a book, co-written with Robert Slater titled "Magic Cancer Bullet" where he tells the story of the development of cancer drug Glivec.

In 2004, the Time Magazine included Vasella in its list of 100 most influential people^[3].
