[edit] Early life

Cornish born and bred, Rogerson went to Bodmin College (comprehensive school), then studied Politics at the University of Wales Aberystwyth (Aberystwyth University since September 2007). Rogerson was previously a councillor on Bedford Borough Council from 1999-2002.[citation needed]

[edit] Parliamentary career

Rogerson contested North East Bedfordshire in 2001. In 2005 he used the Cornish language during the swearing of allegiance in Parliament along with Andrew George in an effort to support the preservation of Cornish identity and culture.

In 2006 Rogerson asked the government to make 5 March a public holiday in Cornwall to recognise celebrations for St Piran's Day.[1]

Rogerson is chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cheese, and opposed Ofcom's inclusion of cheese in its new regulations restricting television advertising of junk foods to children aged under 16.[2]

On the 14 July 2009, Dan Rogerson, presented a Cornish 'breakaway' bill to the Parliament in Westminster. The bill proposes a devolved Cornish Assembly, similar to the Welsh and Scottish set up.[3]

He is currently the youngest male MP in the House of Commons.[citation needed]

[edit] Personal life

He married Heidi Purser in August 1999 in Bodmin. They had a son in November 2004.
