Dalton Transactions is a peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing original (primary) research and review articles on all aspects of the chemistry of inorganic, bioinorganic and organometallic compounds. Dalton Transactions is published weekly by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The editor of Dalton Transactions is Dr Jamie Humphrey and the present chairman of the Editorial Board is Professor Chris Orvig, at University of British Columbia, Canada. The Editorial Board comprises leading international scientists who meet regularly to discuss all scientific matters concerned with the Journal; in particular the standards necessary for the acceptance of papers for publication, the standards of refereeing, and ways and means of acquiring suitable papers for publication.

Dalton Transactions is the highest ranked European journal for inorganic chemistry, with a 2008 impact factor of 3.58.[1]

Dalton Transactions has been selected by the US National Library of Medicine for inclusion in MEDLINE, thereby increasing its visibility to the biological inorganic community. Significant and newsworthy articles appearing in Dalton Transactions are also featured in the RSC supplements Highlights in Chemical Science, Highlights in Chemical Technology and Highlights in Chemical Biology. Dalton Transactions hosts the RSC publications, Highlights in Chemical Science, Highlights in Chemical Biology and Highlights in Chemical Technology

Chemical biology papers published in Dalton Transactions are highlighted in Highlights in Chemical Biology, the RSC’s point of access to chemical biology news and research from across all RSC journals.

Contents

[edit] Subject coverage

Dalton Transactions publishes articles on all aspects of the chemistry of inorganic and organometallic compounds, including bioinorganic, biological inorganic and solid-state inorganic chemistry; the application of physicochemical techniques to the study of their structures, properties and reactions, including kinetics and mechanisms; synthesis and characterisation of new inorganic materials; homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis; new or improved experimental techniques and syntheses.

[edit] Article types

Dalton Transactions publishes the following types of articles: Research Papers (original scientific work that has not been published previously); Communications (preliminary accounts of original and significant work that merits urgent publication); Perspectives (invited personal accounts or critical analyses of activities in specialist areas); and Frontiers (designed to highlight emerging topics, particularly at the interface of inorganic chemistry with other disciplines, and are ‘forward-looking’ in nature).

[edit] Dalton Discussions

Dalton Discussions are scientific meetings that provide a unique international forum for the exchange of views and newly acquired results in focused areas of inorganic chemistry. The papers, which are associated with the oral presentations at the meeting, are published in a special volume of Dalton Transactions, which constitutes a permanent record of the meeting. The meetings are usually held annually.

[edit] Audience/readership

Dalton Transactions is of interest to all chemists working in inorganic chemistry, including biological inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, homogeneous catalysis and inorganic materials chemistry.
