[edit] Song information

The song tells the story of a girl who first thought her lover to be insensitive, until one day she saw him cry. "You were all by yourself, staring up at the dark gray sky, I was changed..." The song wasn't a major hit in America but was an MTV favorite and did well overseas. The song was also on the A Walk to Remember soundtrack in 2002. It also debuted a brunette Moore. Moore felt that "Cry" would be perfect for the soundtrack since it would be released around the time of the movie. It is also one of Moore's favorite songs of the album.

[edit] Music video

The music video was directed by Chris Applebaum. The main premise of the video was centered around the conclusion of the movie A Walk to Remember. It showed Mandy in Heaven and Shane West looking through a telescope at her. The movie featured the couple stargazing and Moore's character "Jamie Sullivan" believed that when she would look through a telescope at the stars she can see into heaven. Landon Carter (Shane West's character) looks through the telescope and can see a now passed Jamie in heaven. As the video comes to a climax, there is an explosion and stars shoot from behind Mandy. The video also shows Shane West looking at random video clips of him and Moore. The home video was the summer that Moore and West's characters spent together before she died. The video wasn't a huge success on MTV like her prior video Crush. The music video is included on "A Walk to Remember" DVD as an extra content. As of 7 September 2009, the video has received 10 million views on Youtube.

[edit] Chart success

The single never cracked the Hot 100 in the United States. However, the single was huge in Canada and Asia. The single also performed well in Germany, where a limited 6-track maxi-cd was released.
