A convertiplane is a fixed-wing aircraft capable of vertical take-off and landing. To achieve this, propellers are usually mounted to the tips of the wings, and both the propellers and their engines rotate. A fairly complicated mechanism to tilt the engines is required, and a risk is that an engine will fail in flight.[1] Examples of convertiplanes are:
