Compounding a felony was an offence under the common law of England and was classified as a misdemeanour. It consisted of a prosecutor or victim of an offence accepting money or money's worth in exchange for dropping a prosecution for a felony.

It has been abolished in England and Wales,[1] in Northern Ireland,[2] in the Republic of Ireland,[3] and in New South Wales.[4] In each of these cases it has been replaced by a statutory offence.
