Colors is a Hindi language Indian general entertainment channel, part of the Viacom 18 family, which was launched on July 21, 2008.[1] The channel got a huge popularity just after its launch and due to its successful ratings, it received a 2nd position among other Hindi general entertainment channels for a little while, such as Zee TV, Sony TV, STAR One, and Sahara One. The show completed its 1 successful year on 21 July 2009

Currently, the channel is featuring a number of successful shows, such as Balika Vadhu, Jai Shri Krishna and Bigg Boss 3. The channels' most popular show, Balika Vadhu has been ranked in the TOP 5 shows of Indian television's TRPs charts, within 3 months of its launch.[2]

Currently, Colors has plans to launch in the Middle East on the Pehla in 2009 and hope to have a confirmed launch date soon. Colors will launch in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Sky Digital in early 2010 and also on the American Dish Network where it will be called Aapka Colors (Respectfully your Colors).[3][4] On 9 December 2009, INX Media confirmed that Colors had bought 9XM's Sky Digital EPG slot on channel 829.[5]
