The Coat of Arms of The Kingdom of Bahrain was designed in 1933 by Charles Belgrave, the British advisor to the Emir of the State of Bahrain. The coat of arms contains a near identical design as that found on the national flag, the only difference being the hoist of the flag rotated to be displayed at the chief of the shield. The mantling is red with white interior, and displayed around the shield without a helm or torse in a manner unusual to heraldic practice. The five white indentations represent the five pillars of the Muslim faith.
