[edit] History

The team was founded on 12 October 1904 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sources say the team got its name from an earthquake that had struck Atlanta, Georgia in United States at the time the founders got together to inaugurate the club. Elias Sanz would be its first president.

Atlanta won the Third Division, or Primera B, titles in 1995, 1983 and 1956. It also won the Copa Suecia in 1958. The current president is Alejandro Korz and the head coach is "Tano" Pasini.

[edit] Stadium

The team stadium, "Don León Kolbovsky", is located in the neighborhood of Villa Crespo in the city of Buenos Aires. It was inaugurated in 1960. The capacity is 34,000.

It is also known as the "Wooden Monumental", in reference to River Plate's Monumental Stadium, the biggest, and with the largest capacity in Argentina.

The Don León Kolbovsky Stadium was closed in May 2008 due to reconstruction. The Buenos Aires Justice department closed the stadium after trouble between Atlanta and All Boys supporters.

In 2009 the new refurbished stadium was open.

[edit] Nickname

Since the team lacked an official home stadium for its first six decades, it was nicknamed "Los Bohemios", as the team would wander from place to place forced to play "home" games in other team's stadiums. The label is also associated to the fans, or any supporter of the team. The singular form, "El Bohemio", is also accepted and can be used when referring to the organization, a particular player or the actual team.

[edit] Supporters

The team is often associated with the Jewish community because of the historical support of Jews in the area of Villa Crespo, notable Jews have been part of the teams administration and squad (e.g. Fabian Lagman and Jaime José Rotman).[1]
