Gosford City is a local government area of the Australian state of New South Wales, governed by the Gosford City Council. It is located approximately midway between Sydney and Newcastle in an area known as the Central Coast. The greater city area includes a moderately densely-populated coastal strip that extends from the Hawkesbury River northward to Forresters Beach (including the towns of Killcare, MacMasters Beach, Avoca Beach, Terrigal and Wamberal), several inland towns and residential areas (Kincumber, Erina, Gosford, Wyoming, Woy Woy) and an extensive sparsely-populated region to the west that is largely native bush.

Gosford City local government area covers an area of 1,028.19 square kilometres and had an estimated population of 162,533 in June 2003.

Together with Wyong Shire, it forms a region known as the Central Coast of NSW. The two Councils also control the Gosford/Wyong Councils' Water Authority, which operates the Mangrove Creek Dam.

- was an increase in population over the 10 years to 30 June 2006 of 13,249 people or 8.8% (0.8% in annual average terms), the 45th highest rate of a Local Government Area in New South Wales. In New South Wales the population grew by 622,966 or 10% (1.0% in annual average terms) over the same period.
