Chris Kontos was born in Cyprus on 29 May 1970. He is best known as the drummer of Machine Head on their first album, Burn My Eyes. He and the band parted ways shortly after recording that album. He played in many bands and projects before and after that period of time, including Testament, Konkhra, Attitude Adjustment, Exodus, Verbal Abuse, Custard Pie, Anti Trust, The Servants, Dog Faced Gods, Death Angel, Grinch and with James Murphy.

Currently he is a member of the thrash metal band Sangre Eterna and stoner rock group Spiralarms.
