Career highlights

Chris Dawes (born 16 May 1988) is an Australian rules footballer currently playing for the Collingwood Football Club in the AFL.

Drafted with the 28th selection in the 2006 AFL Draft from Brighton Grammar School, Dawes is a strongly built forward who missed the majority of 2007 due to a knee injury after showing strong impression with the Magpies' then VFL affiliate Williamstown.

Dawes was a part of the Collingwood team that made AFL history with a pre-season game against the Adelaide Crows which was played in Dubai.

Chris Dawes made his official debut for Collingwood in the 2008 season.

His first game was a win against the in-form St Kilda in round 19, 2008. Dawes joined the list of players who kicked a goal with his first kick in league footy. Dawes was selected to play in the first game after the club suspensions of Alan Didak and Heath Shaw in 2008.

After making his debut, Dawes played the remainder of Collingwoods 2008 season including an Elimination Final against the Adelaide Crows in which Dawes kicked 3 goals in a match winning performance with fellow Magpie John Anthony.

To date, Dawes has played 3 senior games in 2009. Many find this supprising after Collingwoods absence of forward players early in the season including Anthony Rocca and Travis Cloke. Dawes also had an encouraging pre-season which included a game against Geelong in the pre-season Grand Final. Collingwood supporters had called for Dawes to be named in the team after being named in the best players on the ground several times at VFL level.

Currently Dawes wears the number 31 guernsey.
