Chris Collingwood, born in 1968 in Pennsylvania, is a founding member of the power pop band Fountains of Wayne. His roles in the group include lead vocal, guitar, and keyboard. Chris also writes songs for the band. Collingwood's major influences are The Beatles, The Zombies, The Hollies, Aztec Camera, Squeeze, and Blue Öyster Cult.^{[citation needed]}

His side project is the alt-country band The Gay Potatoes. He also toured with Ben Lee in 2005. He is credited on "A Telephone Built For Two" (2008), a record by indie-pop group School for the Dead, as singing vocals.

Collingwood grew up in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.^[1] He lives with his wife Linda in Northampton, Massachusetts. The couple married in 1996.

Collingwood's grandfather served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. The song "Imperia" on the Fountains of Wayne album Out-of-State Plates is dedicated to Collingwood's grandfather. ^[2]
