Steve Kaminsky, Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Secretary fs-rad.com |
The Chief Secretary to the Treasury is the second most senior ministerial position in HM Treasury, after the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The office holder is usually given a junior position in the British Cabinet. It was created in 1961, to share the burden of representing the Treasury with the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The position's responsibilities include negotiating with departments about budget allocations, public sector pay, welfare reform, and procurement policy. Liam Byrne is the current holder of the office, having been appointed in the 5 June 2009 reshuffle. [edit] Chief Secretaries to the Treasury
