Cherish is an American R&B, pop, and hip hop quartet consisting of the sisters Farrah King (born February 17, 1984), Neosha King (born January 26, 1986) and twins Felisha and Fallon King (born June 5, 1987). Originally hailing from Maywood, Illinois, the four sisters moved to Atlanta to further their musical career. The group is signed to Capitol Records and Sho'nuff Records.
[edit] CareerCherish's first single, entitled "Miss P", was produced by Jermaine Dupri, written by Kandi and featured Da Brat. They had been signed to Warner Bros.' imprint Reprise Records. They can also be found on Da Brat's single "In Luv wit Chu" in 2003. They also recorded three songs for The Powerpuff Girls: Power Pop soundtrack, called "Chemical X", "Power of a Female", and "Me and My Girls". They completed a whole album entitled The Moment that was shelved for undisclosed reasons. After three years the group came back with the summer hit "Do It to It" which featured Sean Paul of the YoungBloodZ. The single hit the Billboard Hot 100 at number twelve and entered many other Billboard charts including the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The second single off the album was "Unappreciated". [edit] 2006: UnappreciatedUnappreciated was Cherish's debut album. They wrote almost the entire album and said this work is so much more mature and themselves than their unreleased previous work. The album had productions from Jermaine Dupri, Don Vito, and Jazze Pha. After "Do It to It", their debut album was released on August 15, 2006 on Capitol Records and was named Unappreciated. It debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 selling 91,000 copies making it one of the only R&B girl group projects to hit the top five on the chart in almost a year. The album has been certified gold. [edit] 2008: The TruthTheir second album entitled The Truth was released on May 13, 2008. The first single, "Killa", hit the top forty on the pop charts, while the follow-up is "Amnesia". In a recent interview member, Fallon, described the album as: "The biggest difference to me is the fact that you grow artistically whenever you’re being creative and we’ve been creative for the past couple of years. Our artistry has grown. When we wrote The Truth, we named the album The Truth because basically every song on the album is from personal experiences and we wanted to get personal with our fans. We want everybody to know that they’re not alone going through these things and we’re here."[1] The album was released in the UK on May 12, while the Japanese release is on May 14 and featured two bonus tracks, "Do It to It" (Rap Remix) and "Silly". The album only sold 13,000 copies in the first week and debuted at number forty on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was a commercial failure in the United States, and elsewhere, it underperformed, due the moderate success of the single released and lack of promotion given to the album. The second and final single taken from The Truth was "Amnesia", released on April 8, 2008, and failed to chart inside the Billboard Hot 100, but managed to reach number sixty-one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The single was not released worldwide. There will be no more singles from the album. According to the Internet Movie Database, Felisha, Neosha, Fallon, and Farrah have all been confirmed to appear as the King Sisters in the upcoming 2009 comedy-drama film Caramel which also stars Lauren London, Chris Brown, Chingy, LeToya Luckett, and Kyla Pratt. [edit] The breakthrough and breakup rumorsLater, this year a song entitled "Infected" leaked onto the internet featuring only twin sisters Fallon and Felisha giving way to rumors of the groups breakup, both Fallon and Felisha stated on their personal Facebook profiles that the group is not breaking up and that Cherish is preparing a comeback. It is being reported that the Don Vito produced track "In Your Control" will be released as the first single from their upcoming third studio album The Breakthrough. The Breakthrough will be released sometime during late 2009. [edit] Discography[edit] Albums
