Charles E. "Abe" Abramson (born 24 August 1943) is a former member of the U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS). Abramson was nominated to serve on the Commission by President Bill Clinton in 1995, and following confirmation of his nomination by the U.S. Senate, he was appointed and served until 2001.

Born into an Air Force family, he attended primary schools in Florida, Massachusetts, Luxembourg, Germany, Washington State and New York.

Abramson attended the Bronx High School of Science (New York City), Choctawhatchee High School (Florida), Saint Bernard Prep School (Alabama), and graduated from the University of Florida (B.A., History, 1963), where he was a member of the Gators' Cross Country Team.

He is a founding and continuing Trustee of the Missoula Public Library Foundation (Missoula, Montana). Earlier he served on that library's governing Board of Trustees.

He is a past member of both the Montana Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, and of the Montana State Library Commission. He served a term as a member on the board of the Missoula Community Foundation.

Abramson is an original and continuing member of the Steering Committee for the Montana Festival of the Book. The Montana Library Association presented him their Special Friend to Libraries Award at their annual conference in 2000.

He serves on the Legal Fee Arbitration Committee of the State Bar of Montana, and on the Legal Fee Arbitration Panel for Montana's Fourth Judicial District.

Abramson continues as a founding Trustee of City Club Missoula.

In May 2007, Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer appointed him to a four year term on the Montana Board of Realty Regulation.

For the Spring Semester 2008, Abramson was a Teaching Fellow in the Davidson Honors College of The University of Montana, Missoula, teaching a course on James Joyce's novel "Ulysses" (1922).

In June 2008, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. James B. Peake appointed Abramson to a then new national Veterans Rural Health Advisory Committee. He currently serves on the Joint Institution Review Board (JIRB) for Missoula's two hospitals' research programs, and served for six years on the Medical Staff Ethics Committee at Saint Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center, Missoula.

Abramson is a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel, with over 37 years of total service in the Montana Air National Guard, in the Air Force Reserve and on Active Duty, including assignments in the Far East.

He has practiced commercial and industrial real estate brokerage and development in Missoula, Montana, since 1975. He currently serves on the Timeshare Taskforce of the international Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO), and was invited to present on current trends in fractional interests in real estate at the third annual Conference on Real Estate and Development in the Northern Rockies, organized by NewWest.Net in October 2008. Earlier, as an Adjunct Instructor in the University of Montana School of Business Administration, Abramson taught Real Estate Valuation and Investment.
