The Championnat de France amateur 2 is the 5th highest league in French football, after Ligue 1, Ligue 2, Championnat National and Championnat de France amateur, and is made up of 128 teams in 8 groups of 16 teams. Twelve teams, the teams (both amateur and reserves of professional teams in higher divisions) that top their league, along with 4 second-placed teams, are promoted to CFA1. After the end of the season, to determinate the four second-placed teams that will go in CFA1, the match results of each team concerned, only against the teams ranked 1st to 6th in their respective group, are taken, and then sorted in a small league table (with wins, draw, loss, goal for and against, goal difference and points). The best four teams of this small league table are promoted, while the four others stay in CFA 2. For the relegation, the 3 bottom teams are directly relegated to the next league down, the "Division d'honneur". Four other teams are relegated following the system explained before, except it is the results of the concerned teams (the 13th of each group) against the clubs ranked 11th to 16th in their respective group. The four last team of the league table are relegated, the four others stay in CFA 2. This league usually gathers crowds of between 200 and 400 per game. [edit] External links
