Central Avenue is a major street in the Chicago metropolitan area. It starts up at Golf Road in Morton Grove. North of Golf road it is called Harms Road. It was named Central Avenue because it was the main road running through the town of Austin before it became part of Chicago. ^[1] It runs continuously throughout the city and most of the suburbs. However, it gets cut off in Bedford Park at 65th St by railroad tracks and starts up again at 69th St. There has been talks for over 30 years to build an overpass to link up Central Ave. The name continues all the way down to Corning Road in Peotone.

Central Avenue has several points of interest. These include Columbus Park, The Walser House, The Seth Warner House, The Edgebrook Golf Course, The Austin Town Hall, Loretto Hospital and Knute Rockne Stadium in Chicago. Morton College in Cicero. The Village Crossing Shopping Center in Skokie & Niles. Oak Forest High School and George W. Dunne National Golf Course in Oak Forest. Also the Forest Preserve District of Cook County has several forest preserves that run along parts of Central Avenue. Midway Airport's western boundary runs along Central Avenue.
