This category is for images used under a fair use claim which are no longer used in any article. Such images are subject to deletion after seven days per WP:CSD criterion I5.

To tag an orphaned fair use image, please use either

{{subst:orfud}} or {{subst:or-fu-re|replacement image}}

which will put the image in Category:Orphaned non-free use Wikipedia files as of 30 December 2009. (If the category doesn't exist yet, please create it.)

Note that some of these images were automatically marked as orphaned because there was no reference from a main space article, and there may be good reasons why these should not be deleted anyway. For instance, if an editor is actively working on an article in a user-space subpage, it would be unhelpful to delete the images before the article is finished. Also check for possible vandalism - it is not unknown for vandals to have blanked pages with image references.

WARNING - the "Bad Old Ones tool" does not properly report whether or not an image is in use. If you use that tool, you still have to check the description page manually.
