Casablanca is a suburb of Havana, Cuba, in the municipality of Regla. It is situated to the east of the harbour entrance. In 1762, year of the capture of Havana by the English, a suburb of this name already existed. From many years earlier the royal ranch had there a store to deposit the objects that were not fitting in the stores of Havana. After 1763 lived there navigators of cabotage and carpenters of bank destined to the repairs of merchant ships, going as far as to establish several workshops, in addition to the workshop that was created for arsenal of the square. In 1846 it had 894 inhabitants and 120 houses. In 1858 its population had already reach the 1,061 persons.
