Carlos Augusto Soares da Costa Faria Carvalhal (born 4 December 1964) is a Portuguese former footballer and current football manager for Sporting Clube de Portugal in the Portuguese Liga.

[edit] Coaching career

In 2008, Carvalhal won the League Cup with Vitória de Setúbal for the very first time in his career.[1] On 15 November 2009, Carvalhal joined Sporting Clube Portugal midway through the 2009–10 season after Sporting manager Paulo Bento resigned from his position after a poor start to the season; he was the second longest tenured Sporting manager.[2] He signed a contract that will last until the end of the 2009–10 season.
