Cake Mania is a series of cooking/time management video games developed by Sandlot Games.
[edit] Cake Mania
Cake Mania is a time management game developed and published by Sandlot Games in 2006. The game is available for PCs, Apple Mac, game consoles, on the web as a flash game, and as a mobile game for cell phones. Cake Mania is also notable for being one of the first top-50 titles available as a free download in an advertising-supported model.[citation needed] [edit] PlotJill, who was inspired by her baker grandparents, developed a love for pastry cooking and went to a culinary school. When Jill comes back from culinary school, she finds her grandparents' bakery, Evans' Bakery, closed. Jill decides to open her own bakery and work her way up the business ladder so she can buy back her grandparents' bakery. She also learns about how to deal with some very tricky customers in to the bargain. [edit] GameplayThe player controls Jill, a baker of cakes. Customers come in and line up, giving Jill their orders. The player must then direct Jill so that she creates the cake each customer wants, hopefully before the customer becomes tired of waiting and leaves. Jill can use other items such as cupcakes and a TV to help keep her customers patient. Virtual money earned in the game can be used to buy additional baking equipment such as a second oven, or a better frosting machine, a cupcake microwave or even faster shoes to keep Jill ahead of the orders. [edit] Cake Mania: Main StreetCake Mania: Main Street is the 5th game to be released by Sandlot Games based on the original Cake Mania. While it is being considered the 4th official installment in the series, it is not dubbed as Cake Mania 4 which may imply it will only serve as a bridge between Cake Mania 3 and a possible future Cake Mania 4. New features include the ability to play as Jack, Risha and Tiny in establishments other than the Evans' Bakery. [edit] PlotNewlyweds Jill and Jack return to Jill's hometown of Bakersfield only to discover Jill's favorite spot, Main Street, is all but abandoned thanks to the flashy new mega-mall, Bakersfield Corner. Distraught by the idea of her beloved Main Street's fading life, Jill comes up with a plan to get Main Street business booming again with the help of not only her baking expertise, but also the business skills of Jack, Risha and Tiny. [edit] StagesThere are four Main Street locations, each with 25 levels. Each is run by a different character and has its own comic which ties in with the overall plot. Customers are the same across all four locations, but some - like the Cupids - act differently given the location. Trophies are received for unlocking a new location as well as completing the location. Unlike before, once a location is unlocked, players have the option of going from one location to another without being forced to complete all 25 levels first. The four locations are:
Including unlocking all locations, players also have to buy attractions for the town such as the "World's Largest Cake" and a statue of Jill Evans herself. In the end, Bakersfield Corner is shut down and replaced with the world's largest golf course. The main characters are shown celebrating and most of the customers also make appearances. Jill is exuberant that her plan has succeeded and that Main Street is once again the perfect place for families to spend their time. Her emphasis on families and children causes her to momentarily zone out and upon coming back around she vaguely implies that she is not only pregnant, but possibly with twins. [edit] References
