CSF International (CSFi) is a computer software company specializing in the development of ATM/POS transaction management and switching software located in Sarasota, Florida. Its main products include enterprise software applications designed to manage ATM transactions, POS terminals, debit card management, and (most recently) credit card management intended for clients who desire to manage these processes in-house versus third party. CSFi is an international firm that distributes and sells its solutions in over 20 countries worldwide with most of its business conducted via a global network of resellers and support centers. CSFi's primary clients range from small community banks to multi-bank holding companies and processing centers. CSFi has affiliations with larger firms such as Diebold, NCR, and Wincor in order to support their self-service technologies.
[edit] HistoryThe company was originally founded in Dayton, Ohio in 1980 by Mr. Robert L. Godown to offer online distribution management software. The company opened a satellite office and eventually relocated all operations to Sarasota, Florida in 1985. [edit] Products[edit] Automated Teller Machine / Point-of-Sale Switching SoftwareCSFi provides solutions that are intended for financial institutions and desire to maintain control over their Automated Teller Machine(ATM) network processing. The competitive advantage that CSFi offers to banks and other firms through their ATM driving products is the ability to manage their networks in-house and eliminate significant costs of outsourcing this network to third party vendors. [edit] SWITCHWARESWITCHWARE is CSFi’s flagship product and provides enterprise transaction processing and management. It allows financial institutions the ability to perform ATM driving and POS Acquiring functions. The primary purpose of the system is to perform transaction processing and routing decisions, sending “on-us” transactions to a primary authorizer, switching foreign transactions to EFT networks, standing in when the primary core system is unavailable, and performing processing decisions according to predetermined settings. SWITCHWARE also provides transaction logging and switching, debit card management, EMV smart card support, an HSM interface for cryptographic functions including PIN validation, remote key loading, MIS reporting, ATM/EFT monitoring, and automated alert notification. [edit] CARDWARECARDWARE is CSFi’s latest upcoming platform designed as a comprehensive card management system that will provide on-line transaction authorization, limit checking, open-to-buy formulas and accumulators plus support of multiple card products including credit, corporate, fleet/fuel, pre-paid, travel, purchase, virtual and private label cards with loyalty scheme support. CARDWARE also provides back office functions including installment, billing, interest adjustments, statement generation, clearing and settlement and report generation. CARDWARE can be integrated and interface with CSFi’s SWITCHWARE product for ATM and POS acquirer support and authorization gateway interfaces to regional, national and international networks such as Visa and MasterCard. [edit] EZswitchThe EZswitch ATM/Debit on-line interface provides a connection to the financial institution’s core system and the EFT Network to support on-line authorization. The EZswitch system sits between the EFT network and the core system. The bank or institution’s core system will be responsible for performing transaction authorization functions. The main benefit of the debit interfaces is to eliminate the financial institution’s exposure to error by authorizing transactions against current account balances. [edit] EZswitch PlusThe EZswitch Plus system serves as an online issuer system and provides the same interfaces found in the EZswitch basic system. The main difference between the basic and Plus systems is the ability to perform stand-in authorization when the institution’s core system is unavailable. In addition to stand-in authorization the EZswitch Plus also provides ATM/Debit card file management features. [edit] VOLTDSVOLTDS is an application that manages message delivery functions for SWITCHWARE and allows it to communicate with other external nodes in the network including ATMs, POS devices, EFT networks and the institution’s core system. [edit] u/SNACu/SNAC is a multipurpose workstation deployed to an institution’s data center to monitor and control critical tasks. u/SNAC tasks include running the client applications that perform EFT network monitoring for EZswitch, EZswitch Plus, and SWITCHWARE as well as the Net Services client application for VOLTDS. u/SNAC also serves as a platform for the u/SNITCH automated monitoring and notification system for running remote support software as a server for legacy protocol support when required. [edit] u/SNITCHu/SNITCH is designed to integrate SWITCHWARE, EZswitch, and EZswitch Plus to provide unattended monitoring of an institution’s ATMs, core system interface, EFT network connection(s) and the server where CSFi’s products reside. u/SNITCH allows users to have alerts sent via email, cell phone or alphanumeric pager to predefined staff or third party service agents at determined times or events. [edit] u/STARTu/START is a benchmarking tool designed for applications that use VOLTDS as its transaction processing subsystem. Data capture files archived by VOLTDS with live transaction data are used as the source of u/START’s replay messages. The transaction data is saved to a database where it can be edited and replayed for testing and quality assurance purposes. Transaction throughput rates can be determined and hardware configuration can be changed before going into a production environment. [edit] MIS ReportingMIS Reporting is a web-enabled system that provides analytical and management information for SWITCHWARE. It provides business intelligence reports in the form of graphs, spreadsheets, and various other data displays. MIS Reports are both customizable and standardized and can be set to run on a periodic basis. [edit] External links
