CDI College is a for-profit college in Canada. It offers programs in the business, technology and health care fields. There are 13 campus locations; 4 in British Columbia, 5 in Alberta, 1 in Manitoba and 3 in Quebec. The school is owned by The Eminata Group, Inc. It was previously known as The Toronto School of Business.
[edit] AboutCDI College offers programs in the areas of Business, Technology and Healthcare. It operates in four provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec), employs over 900 teachers and staff, and has approximately 8,000 students. On November 8, 2005, the previous parent company completed the sale of substantially all the assets of its corporate training division, CDI Education for CAD$19 million (USD$16 million) to CrossOff Incorporated. In December 2007, Corinthian Colleges, Inc. re-branded their Ontario campuses as Everest College and sold the remaining campus locations across Canada to the Eminata Group.[2] Since 2007, new programs have been added and a new website was launched, allowing potential students to chat with school representatives and apply online. [edit] OwnershipCorinthian Colleges Inc. purchased CDI College in July 2003[3], though this only lasted for about 4 and a half years before Corinthian sold CDI College to the Eminata Group in December 2007. Corinthian Colleges, Inc. retained their Ontario schools in the purchase deal and re-branded them as Everest College while all others were sold to the Eminata Group, Inc. [4] [edit] CDI Locations
[edit] Past ControversyIn 2006, Ontario student Aaron Laforest was the first person to successfully sue CDI college for false advertising and misrepresentation.[5] CDI was ordered to pay him $5,000 in damages plus expenses. The judge said he agreed with Laforest -- that CDI did not deliver as promised and was in breach of contract. The CDI campus that Laforest attended is no longer apart of the CDI brand - all Ontario campuses were re-branded in December 2007 as Everest College by Corinthian Colleges, Inc.[6] [edit] See also[edit] External links[edit] References
