[edit] BARK Zone/Advisory Period

[edit] BARK Zone

BARK was a peer-tutoring advisory course in which students with a GPA below 2.0 were required to attend. The goal was to help students enjoy school more and give them the opportunity in which they needed to succeed. An hour-long lunch was granted to students not in BARK; BARK Zone was held in the first thirty minutes of lunch, the preceding thirty minutes was the designated lunch time for all students. Students enrolled could get out of the class at the end of each quarter if they had brought their GPA above a 2.0 . The course started in 2006 and ended in 2009. The program had been re-formatted last year, in which each day focused on a specific subject and students with a D or lower in any class had to attend for that subject day until the grade went up.

[edit] Advisory Period

However, in 2009, changes were made at the end of the school year. It was announced that a mandatory 20 minute advisory period similar to BARK would be placed between third and fourth period. These BARK classes would include an integration of students of all grade and academic levels in an attempt to inspire success and a sense of school bonding.
