Bruce Gowers is an English television and music video director. He is presently the director of live episodes of American Idol, having returned to the show for its 2009 season, having resigned in the 2008 season after a dispute with now-departed executive producer Nigel Lythgoe. His first video was for Queen for their song "Bohemian Rhapsody" and was also considerated as the "First Video Clip" of the music history. The band asked him to get their Queen II album cover to come to life. Since then Gowers was established as an important director for this medium. He translated these talents to children's videos with his long-running series Kidsongs, for home video and public television. Gowers was also the director of the U.S. version of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and the television special Delirious with Eddie Murphy. He also directed the 59th Emmys, was nominated for an Emmy for the 2007 Idol finale, and won at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards for his "Idol" work in 2009.
