[edit] HistoryThe Brown Mackie College system of schools began with a single school, Kansas Wesleyan School of Business, which began operation on Sept. 12, 1892. In 1938, the school was incorporated as The Brown Mackie School of Business under the ownership of Perry E. Brown and A.B. Mackie, former instructors at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. In following years, this school and others that were to become part of the Brown Mackie College system of schools were operated by numerous organizations and eventually were united as a system under the parent company of American Education Centers (AEC), founded in 1993 and headquartered in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. In 2003, the system of schools was acquired by Education Management Corporation of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The schools were renamed Brown Mackie College schools in November 2004. [edit] LocationsBrown Mackie has 22 locations in the United States. With the exception of the Kansas and Oklahoma campuses, all campuses are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Kansas campuses are accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, and the Oklahoma campus is licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools. [edit] See also
