The MSA British Rally Championship is a yearly rallying series based in the United Kingdom. It consists of six rounds throughout the British Isles. The first championship was run in 1958 and it is licensed by the MSA Motor Sports Association since 1999. The current British Rally Champion is Keith Cronin.

2008 saw the 50th anniversary celebration of the Championship with a special BRC rally show at the Chatsworth Rally Show where many of the former Champions attended to celebrate.

The 2009 season had a new opening round, International Rally of North Wales which displaced Rally GB. It saw six representative rallies, one from each of the countries in the British Isles, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man.

The 2010 season calendar will mirror that of 2009 with International Rally North Wales kicking off the year on the 27th March.

The championship is open to cars in four classes:

  • Rally 4 (R4) - All four wheel drive Group N4 and Super 2000 cars
  • Rally 3 (R3) - Super 1600 Cars and cars homologated to Rally 3, including Group N4 Diesel cars
  • Rally 2 (R2) - Groups N3, A6 and cars homologated to Rally 2
  • Rally 1 (R1) - Groups N1, N2 and cars homologated to Rally 1

All cars contesting the 2010 British Rally Championship must use Pirelli tyres and a control fuel

[edit] Pirelli Star Driver

The Competition is designed to find future rallying talent by selecting one candidate finalist from each round of the 2010 MSA British Rally Championship. The addition of the Fiesta SportTrophy, Citroen Racing Trophy and Swift Sport Cup Junior one-make Champions means the competition offers nine drivers a chance to compete in an end of season shoot-out competition; the winner of which will win Pirelli support with a fully funded drive in the 2011 BRC. 2009 winner Keith Cronin will driving a TEG Sport Subaru Impreza N15 in the 2010 BRC.

[edit] BRC Challenge

The championship also runs a support series called the BRC Challenge. The championship is designed to act as a feeder to the main championship and provides competitors with a taster of the main championship. 2009 BRCC Champion Neil Matthews plans to move up to the British Rally Championship in 2010 in the Swift Sport Cup, taking advantage of his prize of free entries on all six events.
