[edit] Early LifeStaker grew up in Broken Hill in remote country New South Wales. He went to Burke Ward Public School where he made a time capsule to be opened on 2021. He made his A Grade debut in 2000 at age 15 for West Broken Hill(The Club at which his father Alan holds the record for most senior games played) playing in their losing grand final side that year [edit] AFL career[edit] West CoastRecruited from NSW/ACT Rams (Under 18s), he made his debut in 2003. In round seven 2004, he earned a AFL Rising Star nomination when he kicked three goals against Melbourne. Staker was punched by Barry Hall on 12 April 2008 in a game against the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium [1]. Hall was suspended for seven weeks [2]. Later in the same match Hall broke his wrist, potentially keeping him out of the game for more than his suspension period. This was not his only hiccup in matches against the Swans however; in the 2005 AFL Grand Final he was slapped with a 50-metre penalty in the dying moments following an incident involving Adam Goodes in a play that cost West Coast the game. [edit] Brisbane LionsAt the end of the 2009 season Staker told the Eagles that he wished to be traded away from Western Australia; the Eagles traded him to the Brisbane Lions with its third round draft pick (#39 overall) for Bradd Dalziell.
