Bradford Swain Linaweaver (born September 1, 1952) is a Nebula Award finalist for the novella version, and Prometheus Award winner for the novel version of Moon of Ice. His other novels include Sliders (based on the television series) and The Land Beyond Summer. Collaborative novels are four best-selling Doom novels with Dafydd ab Hugh, three Battlestar Galactica novels with actor Richard Hatch, and Anarquia with J. Kent Hastings, from James A. Rock & Co., Publishers: Sense of Wonder Press. Linaweaver has sold over eighty short stories, and three hundred articles, as well as various scripts and original stories that have been produced as audio dramas and low budget movies.

Linaweaver shares a second Prometheus Award with Ed Kramer for co-editing Free Space, a major libertarian science fiction anthology from TOR books. His most recent book is Worlds of Tomorrow with Forrest J Ackerman for Collectors Press.

The late President Ronald Reagan praised an early article Linaweaver wrote, making the case for capitalism against socialism. Reagan summed up his commentary on Linaweaver with the line, "How right he is!" The radio broadcast is included in the Reagan CD set, In His Own Voice, and in the book, Stories in His Own Hand: The Everyday Wisdom of Ronald Reagan. Linaweaver has since maintained his conservative and libertarian political views.

He is the co-conspirator of the Big Lizards blog with ab Hugh and his wife Sachi. While ab Hugh and Linaweaver were early supporters of George W. Bush's foreign policy, following 9/11, Linaweaver subsequently turned against the Iraq war.

[edit] Heinlein's Brass Cannon

Linaweaver owns a small brass cannon. The cannon was originally acquired by science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein and his wife Virginia Heinlein, sometime prior to 1960. For nearly 30 years, the firing of the brass cannon was a 4th of July tradition at the Heinlein residence. It is believed that this cannon was the inspiration for Heinlein's original title for the work which eventually became The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress. Virginia Heinlein retained the cannon after her husband's death in 1988, and it was bequeathed to Linaweaver in her will, after Virginia died in 2003. Linaweaver restored the cannon to working order and subsequently posted a 2007 video of it being fired several times (with very small charges) on YouTube.^[3]

Linaweaver is publisher of the popular movie magazine Mondo Cult, featuring literary contributions and articles from and about Linaweaver's eclectic list of celebrity friends and contacts. Notable among that list are Battlestar Galactica actor Richard Hatch, the late science fiction icon and collector Forrest J. Ackerman, conservative commentator, publisher, and television personality the late William F. Buckley, Jr., and actress Traci Lords. Recent editions have also included the poetry of one of the greatest American writers of speculative fiction Ray Bradbury, and the free verse of former Georgia State Representative Chesley V. Morton.
