Boseong County (Boseong-gun) is a county in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. Boseong is famous for its green tea leaves. It is also the birthplace of the Korean independence activist Philip Jaisohn.
[edit] HistoryIn Samhan era, Boseong belonged to Mahan confederacy and later became bokhol county(伏忽郡) under the rules of Baekje dynasty. The name "Boseong" was given in Unified Silla. One of the township, Bulgyo(벌교) was one of the biggest spots where Japanese deprived rices of Korean people. [1] [edit] GeographyLarge areas consist of mountains such as Mangil-Bong, Jonje Mt and Joowol Mt. Boseong river flows through the center of Boseong. Multipurpose dam has been made - Juam Dam. [edit] Administrative DistrictBoseong has 10 myun meaning township in Eng and 2 eups of Boseong eup and Bulgyo eup. In fact, the population of Jeollanam-do(South Jeolla Province) has been decreased.[2] Boseong also went through such situation.
