The agreement was signed in Moscow on 16 August 1945. It was signed for the Republic of Poland by Edward Osóbka-Morawski, and for the USSR by Vyacheslav Molotov. The exchange of ratified documents occurred on 5 February 1946 in Warsaw, and from that date the agreement was in force.
