Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (IATA: ADD, ICAO: HAAB) serves the city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The airport is located in the Bole area, 18 km (11 mi) east of Addis Ababa City and 65 km (40 mi) north of Debre Zeyit. Formerly known as Haile Selassie I International Airport, it is the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines, the national airline which has service to destinations in Ethiopia and throughout the African continent, as well as nonstop service to Asia, Europe, and North America. Bole International is also served by bmi, EgyptAir, Emirates Airline, KLM, Lufthansa, Sudan Airways and Turkish Airlines. It is also one of the main pilot training and aircraft maintenance centers in Africa. Bole International Airport is the sixth busiest airport in Africa after OR Tambo International Airport, Cairo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport, Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport and Hurghada International Airport (2008). Bole International Airport is the busiest airport in East Africa. In 2003, a new international passenger terminal opened, one of the largest on the continent. This accompanied the completion of a new 3,800 m (12,467 ft) runway.
