Robert William Chouinard (born May 1, 1972, in Manila, Philippines) is a retired Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher. Bobby is the only person born in The Philippines to play Major League Baseball. Choinard played high school baseball at Forest Grove High School in Forest Grove, Oregon.[1][2] Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 5th round of the 1990 MLB amateur draft, Chouinard made his Major League Baseball debut with the Oakland Athletics on May 26, 1996, and appeared in his final major league game on September 9, 2001. Chouinard was released by Arizona after a police report revealed Chouinard had held a gun to his wife's head in front of their infant sometime around the Christmas holiday in 1999.[citation needed] Chouinard is one of four players in Major League Baseball history from the Philippines, either by birth, citizenship, or heritage. The other three are Bobby Balcena, Benny Agbayani, and Chris Aguila.[citation needed] [edit] References
