Robert D. Forward (born 1958), commonly known as Bob Forward,^[1] is an American writer, director and producer.^[2] Forward is the son of the late Dr. Robert L. Forward, who was an American physicist and science fiction writer. Forward is the production director and president of his independent company, Detonation Films.^[3] Forward has been the writer of many television series.

Forward has been known to help out a few high school students with their Senior Project, acting as a mentor and guide for the students interested in film related professions.^[4] Jokingly, Bob Forward has been known to have a knack for blowing stuff up.^[5] He is often seen in Hawaiian shirts, the louder the better, as a sort of gimmick. This is also similar to his father, who often wore elaborate vests and bow-ties.

A talented cartoonist, Forward drew the logo which appeared on his father's letterhead. This depicts Dr. Forward sitting under an apple tree, rubbing his head and staring contemplatively at the apple which has just fallen and struck him.

Forward currently resides in Chatsworth, California, while the location of Detonation Films is located in Simi Valley, California.
