Black Angus Steak and Seafood Restaurant was founded in 1964 by Stuart Anderson of Seattle, Washington. The restaurant chain is owned by American Restaurant Group Inc, aka ARG Enterprises Inc, and based in Los Altos, CA.[1]

The parent company of the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on January 15, 2009 due to the current recession.Comedian Patton Oswalt does a skit about Black Angus Steakhouse on his comedy album, Feelin' Kinda Patton.[2]
