BitLord is a BitTorrent client written in C++ for Microsoft Windows. BitLord Pro is a recent "commercial" release of BitLord.

According to the official website, BitLord contains these features:

• Automatic optimization for different connections.
• Automatic optimization of uploads to achieve the maximum possible download rate.
• Eliminates the wait for disk allocation, while also reducing fragmentation on the drive.
• Eliminates the time-consuming hashing when seeding / resume.
• Allows some firewalled or "NAT'd" users to connect to each other.
• Compliant with Windows XP's restrictions on the TCP stack imposed by Service Pack 2.
• Block IPs temporarily or permanently. Fully compatible with eMule's ipfilter.dat.
• All downloads are received through a single port.
• No manual ICS or ICF configuration required. (Windows XP Required)
• Automatically configures UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) compatible routers for optimal performance (Windows XP is required)
• Can find peers from more than one source.
• Supports the UTF-8 character set.
• Automatically checks for new versions.
• 35 languages are supported.

[edit] Criticisms

The current stable releases of BitLord (up to version 1.1) are based on the source code of version 0.56 of the BitComet core. Because of this, certain bugs that have been resolved in later versions of BitComet are still prevalent in BitLord. BitLord is also being criticized for what some perceive as "selfish behavior" and is blocked by some BitTorrent Trackers. In 2007, BitLord 2.0 Beta supposedly resolved these issues. However, it is no longer available for download.^[1]

The only major changes in versions of BitLord before 2.0 are advertisements placed on the BitLord interface, and that BitComet's list of BitTorrent sites is replaced with a search box that leads to affiliates of BitLord.^{[citation needed]} BitLord 1.1 added the WhenU adware program.^[2]
