[edit] History

Prior to being located in Binghamton, the franchise had been known as the Williamsport Bills since 1989 and was affiliated with the Seattle Mariners during the 1989 and 1990 seasons and the New York Mets in 1991. After the 1988 season, the Williamsport Bills moved to Hagerstown, Maryland, with the franchise based in Pittsfield, Massachusetts relocating to Williamsport in time for the 1989 season. It was the latest in a long series of moves for the Pittsfield franchise, which was originally based in Williamsport in 1976 and later moved to Jersey City, New Jersey from 1977 through 1978 and then Buffalo, New York from 1979 through 1984.
