Billboard Brasil is a monthly Brazilian magazine launched on October 10, 2009, with over 40,000 copies printed[1]. Its distribution was initially limited to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and Porto Alegre, but it is predicted to become a weekly magazine distributed nationwide.
The magazine was launched during a trip Bill Werde, Editor in Chief of the American Billboard, made to Brazil in September 2009, in which he said he likes Brazilian music, and that Billboard would keep an eye on the local market.
Billboard Brasil is similar to the American Billboard, featuring both Brasil Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts, in addition to articles on regional and iternational music, as well as regional and international charts. The charts are done based on the Crowley Broadcast Analysis report, which monitors 265 radio stations on the country and already provided this service for the music industry[2][3][4][5] Brazil became third country with a print affiliate of the American magazine, following Russia and Turkey, respectively.
The first number-one song on the main chart was "Halo" by Beyoncé. Its first cover was Roberto Carlos, Brazil's best-selling music artist.
