Bhaskar Bharti is a daily show that airs on Sony Entertainment Television (India) from Mondays to Thursdays. It premiered on May 25, 2009 and stars Eijaz Khan, Ragini Khanna, Aamir Ali, Jai Kalra and Vivek Mushran in the lead roles.This show managed to grab the target audience due to its uniquely amazing concept. This show was one of its kind in the history of Indian Television. Due to channel's efforts to promote some of its new shows the show had to jump its timing on 10 Nov from prime time 9.00pm IST to evening slot 7.30pm IST. Although being quite a hit among the youth because of its unique storyline,unfortunately the show ended on 17 Dec 2009, the reason for this sudden closure remains a mystery.

Prior to its launch, it was believed that Bhaskar Bharti was a TV adaptation of the 2005 Hindi film Mr Ya Miss.^[1] However, that was not the case, as it is actually a Hindi adaptation of the popular Argentine comedy show Lalola in which a man turns into a woman as a result of being cursed by one of his love interests.

The story is centered around the life of Bhaskar (portrayed by Eijaz Khan), an attractive and debonair man and chief editor of Men's Universe, a fledgling men's magazine. He's quite popular among women; however, he keeps moving in and out of relationships, as he doesn't believe in the concept of love. This leads to a lot of anger and heartburn among his love interests. Eventually, one of his girlfriends (whom he promised to marry) curses him to turn into a woman, so that he may understand the pain and anguish that he has caused her and other women. The curse comes true, and Bhaskar transforms into a woman that night.

Bewildered by this sudden change, he tries in vain to turn himself back into a man. He soon realizes that he has no choice but to continue his daily life as a woman until the curse can be reversed. To be accepted back in his workplace, he pretends to be Bhaskar's cousin Bharti (portrayed by Ragini Khanna) and lies that Bhaskar had to leave to attend to a family emergency, and that he has asked her to assume his responsibilities at his office until he returns. He is able to get his job back as a result, but realizes that getting everyone's respect and attention will prove very difficult, more so now as he is a woman. The story twists and turns with the entry of Bhaskar's parents and brother, a don named "Chotta Wasooli", and the growing love interest between Payal and Armaan...

• Eijaz Khan (Guest appearance) as Bhaskar. He is the chief editor of Men's Universe magazine, and hails originally from Gwalior. Post his transformation, he only makes small appearances in some episodes. A mysterious man who reveals himself as KK (who turns out to be Shri Krishna, "Krishna Kanhaiyya [KK]) tells him that he turned Bhaskar into a woman. Bhaskar is seen only as a man when KK is with him.

• Ragini Khanna as Bharti, Bhaskar's female avatar. Through many ups and downs, he[Bhaskar] discovers how hard it is to be a woman. The female version, "Bharti", usually walks like a man (eg. holding her purse over her back as a man would do with a coat) and always mixes up her genders when speaking.After changing into female slowly she starts to fall in love with Armaan.

• Aanchal Sabharwal as Payal Mehra. She is Bhaskar's best friend, who loves him and wants him back in his original self. She is constantly with him through this tumultous phase of his life, and helps him in dealing with his new body and new personal and professional life. She also helps him in his attempts to turn himself back into a man.

• Aamir Ali as Armaan Sinha, Bhaskar's office colleague. He is a divorceé with a young daughter, and is shown as a good and kind person by heart. He seems to be slowly falling in love with Bharti, but later Bharti misunderstands Armaan that he is falling in love with Payal, but later Armaan reveals to Bharti that he only loves her and no one else. Bharti who seems to be falling in love with him too slowly.

• Jai Kalra as Gyaan Gupta, Bhaskar's office colleague and "best friend". Gyaan is very jealous of Bharti, and he and Vineeta try to throw her out of the office, but they fail. Gyaan now works as a type of janitor, fixing things around the office etc. after Bharti and Armaan got him fired, but rehired in this new position as payback. Vineeta is Gyaan's love-interest.

• Rukhsar as Vineeta Lamba, Gyaan's subordinate in office and also his love interest. She conspires with Gyaan to have Bharti thrown out from the magazine, so he can assume Bhaskar's post and she can be promoted to his current post.

• Vivek Mushran as Amarjeet Bhatia, Bhaskar (Bharti)'s boss. He is initially biased against Bharti and doubts her capabilities, but is gradually forced to accept her contributions towards the magazine's success. His wife Kamla a.k.a. Camilla started Men's Universe after they came to Mumbai from Ludhiana.

• Rajesh Khera (Guest appearance) as KK(Krishna Kanhaiyya as revealed on 13/8/09, the Janamasthami special episode), the mysterious man who is responsible for Bhaskar's transformation into Bharti, and also the key to reversing the curse.
• Shakti Anand as Omkar Sinha, Armaan's brother. He is husband of Bharti. Now he had married Bhaskar, thinking that she is Bharti.
