Bexhill and Battle is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
[edit] BoundariesThe constituency is based around the district of Rother in East Sussex. The main towns in the constituency, from which the seat takes its name, are Battle and the coastal resort of Bexhill-on-Sea. [edit] Members of ParliamentThis safe Conservative constituency was created in 1983, mostly from the former seat of Rye. Its first MP, Charles Wardle, served as a junior Home Office minister in the government of John Major. It has been represented by Gregory Barker since 2001.
[edit] Elections
This constituency underwent boundary changes between the 1992 and 1997 general elections and thus change in share of vote is based on a notional calculation.
