Bergamask, or bergomask or bergamasca (from the town of Bergamo in Northern Italy), is a clumsy rustic dance (cf. Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream, v. 360) copied from the natives of Bergamo, reputed to be very awkward in their manners.
