Beijing Technology and Business University (北京工商大学) is a university in Beijing, China. It was founded based on the amalgamation of part of the top chinese technology institution - Beijing Institute of Light Industry (founded in 1958), and 2 other institutions: Beijing Institute of Business (founded in 1950), and the Administration School for Ministry of Machinery Industry.
Its purpose is to train scholars, engineers, technicians, businessmen and administrators. It currently has 1,400 staffs with 600 full-time lectuers. There are about 10,000 undergraduates and 650 full-time postgraduates with considerable professionals for part-time/qualified postgraudate programmes.
With the prestige of Beijing Institute of Light Industry, currently BTBU has some prestigious scholars like Prof. Baoguo Sun, and invovled into International cooperations actively. By the agreement signed by the Irish and Chinese presidents (Brian Ó Comhain and Jintao Hu) in 2008, BTBU exchange lots students and lectures with UCC, UCD for combined degree programmes (2+2,and 3+1+1/1.5) and non-degree programmes, and recently, with CIT. Many students also are recruited by any other universities in North America and European.
