A beer cocktail is a cocktail that is made by mixing beer with a distilled spirit. In this type of cocktail the primary ingredient is beer. A mixture of beer with a beverage that does not contain distilled alcohol is called a shandy.

Wife Beater — One-half pint of lager (traditionally Stella Artois), one-half pint of Smirnoff Ice malt beverage, topped with a shot of vodka. In Ireland and Britain, many people refer to Stella Artois beer as “Wife Beater,” a reference to a famous line in A Streetcar Named Desire.
